Bryony house
campaign

This ad was designed for Bryony House, a Halifax shelter supporting survivors of intimate partner violence. The message plays on the phrase, “Sometimes they just need to be put in their place,” subverting its usual negative connotation to highlight the importance of finding safety.

Inspired by the bold, text-driven campaigns of the Guerrilla Girls in the 1990s, the design uses minimal elements to maximize impact. The stark contrast between the initial statement and the follow-up text forces the viewer to reconsider their assumptions, making the message more memorable.

This ad raises awareness of intimate partner violence and emphasizes the need for safe spaces like Bryony House, encouraging survivors and supporters to take action.
